The Golden Effect
The panels produce wonderful patterned reflections
The Philips Lighting headquarters at the High Tech Campus (HTC) in Eindhoven was designed by LAVA Architects in Stuttgard. The aim of Philips was to showcase their Ecophon sound absorbing light panels. In the plan they included the ‘golden light effect’, a periodically returning light effect inside the atrium of the building.
Neither them nor Philips knew how to actually realize this effect with fixtures and lamps from this company. With Beersnielsen we designed the light plan for the complete atrium with meeting areas, as well as the tree structure with this effect.
CAD simulations
Before the project could be realized, many lighting calculations were performed to estimate the amount, position and orientation of the fixtures and to simulate whether it would produce the reflections that we envisioned.
On-site testing
It was quite clear how the panels would reflect light onto one another. Still, an on-site small scale test provided the final insights about the resulting effects in real life.
