For many tangible objects in our environment their source material start in a liquid form. Influenced by laws of physics these liquids solidify and result in a definitive state. The fascination for viscosity marks the starting point of an exploration of liquids settling into solid matter and becoming objects. Moments captured in this process display the dynamics and aesthetics of highly viscous materials.
A drop of water suspended in time. Just as with every turn you take, you grow a bit older, this lamp likewise shows another face. Just when you’ve thought you’ve seen it for what it is, a curious sensation creeps up on you: has it always been like that?
The fantasy of this one drop could be well-rendered conceptually, its design seemed straight-forward.
Deceptively simple — this drop of liquid encases its light source as one solid piece of glass. Hearing these words understate the true complexity behind its production. We take for granted natural phenomenon such as the bounce a drop of water endures when hitting a surface. In response, it forms a convex dome that disappears within a millisecond. Emulating such a tender moment in time through one integral form of glass proved challenging.

Delicately forged in the gloryhole, each lamp an unique texture, they are seamless in pronouncing their own integrity when suspended in air. The commitment to its faithful realisation was rewarded. Analogous to this sequence of events, the drop’s light is reinterpreted through itself to cast a radially expanding ripple below.
Beholding one on its own leaves it an understated gem, but it is not the same as grouping them as a collective phenomenon. Together with atleast three drops, an emergent quality resonates beyond practically serving its purpose to light a space. Rather, they set a scene of silent drama vibrating with life that you’d think you heard chimes pulsating from them. Close your eyes and let its pitter patters wash over you as these subjects reinvent themselves in response to their externalities: the rays of dusk peering through the window, the gusts of wind sneaking beneath door slits, the myriad of emotions that course in you daily. Timeless.
