Fraai Werk joined the team of Beersnielsen lichtontwerpers to illuminate the art collections of the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum.
All areas are illuminated, with the climax being The Gallery of Honour
They designed the light plan, which was installed and finished this year for the grand reopening after being under reconstruction the past ten years. The overall aim was to achieve a well-balanced atmosphere per room or section. Much attention was given to limiting cast shadows from art pieces on walls, other objects and showcases.
On top of that, we tried to position and aim the spots in such a way that visitors hardly cast their own shadow art pieces or its text label while not being blinded by glare. All in all a very tedious task that was recognized and praised by (inter)national press for the way it is executed. We absolutely advise you to visit the museum and see for yourself why the museum itself is a masterpiece!
